5 Ways To Celebrate These Upcoming Holidays

Kansas City is the place to be if you're looking to celebrate the holidays! From volunteering at one of the local retirement homes to enjoying a meal at one of our many restaurants on the Country Club Plaza, there are plenty of ways to have fun in Kansas City during this time of year.

  1. Volunteer At A Local Retirement Home.

One of the best ways to celebrate the holidays is by giving back. You can volunteer at a local retirement home to help host games and holiday activities or hang out with some folks who don’t have a family to visit them. If you don’t want to head into the center, you and your kids can make cards for staff at your local center.

If volunteering sounds like a good idea, there is no limit to what you can do. Many local organizations offer volunteer opportunities for people of all ages, including retirement homes. Contacting them directly is a good idea since they can help match you with an appropriate program or project.

  1. Take a Trip Down to the Country Club Plaza

The Country Club Plaza is the perfect place to take a holiday stroll. The Plaza is home to many shops and restaurants, including the well-known Kaufmann's Fabrics. If you love shopping or just want to see some lovely lights, the Plaza is a great place.

  1. Walk Through the Neighborhoods in Brookside

Brookside is a great place to walk around if you're looking to enjoy something more low-key. This historic neighborhood is full of beautiful homes and other historical sites that will take you back in time.

This area is beautiful when snow is on the ground—so if you get lucky enough with the weather this year, consider bringing some hot chocolate or hot cider along and enjoying nature! (And, of course, come see us at Brookside “66” Service for all your vehicle winterization needs beforehand!)

  1. Head over to the Power and Light District

The Royals may be done playing, and Chiefs games may be few and far between, but the Power and Light District still is lighting up the KC night sky! The district is home to dozens of restaurants, shops, theaters, and more. In addition to its wide variety of activities and options for entertainment, the district is also home to one of the best holiday light displays in the city.
